During this training, play therapy supervisors will practice two methods of using reflective sandtrays. In the first, they will each create a sandtray exploring their journey of becoming a supervisor.
The second approach offers a new tool for play therapy supervisors to use with the challenging situations supervisees face. Each participant will describe a supervisory or client issue to the group and then create a sandtray focusing on the issue. At the same time, the other two group members build a sandtray reflecting their understanding of the presenting problem. Each attendee will have the opportunity to present and to build.
In addition to the opening supervisor journey tray, participants will make 3 trays 1 presentation tray a situation and 2 reflection trays. The reflective sandtray process encourages a gentle way of deepening supervisory wisdom. The refection tray is a powerful tool for play therapy supervisors to use in group consultations. The training is highly experiential and takes place in Karen’s well equipped sandtray room.
